Acne is a chronic skin condition, which is common among younger adults who are most sensitive from the psychological point of view. Acne vulgaris, or as we simply call it acne, is considered by most people as a mere superficial disease, but it has a much deeper impact on the person. It is definitely not as traumatizing as serious diseases like cancer, but from the emotional and psychological standpoint the effects are quite profound an may the entire life of an individual.

Studies show that the degree of acne severity doesn’t have a direct link to the severity of psychological effects. The most common psychological issue with acne patients is depression. And the test have shown that those with moderate cases of acne suffer from the exact same level of depression severity as those with more serious cases of the disease. Another interesting aspect is that young adults are typically more affected by the condition, compared to adolescents. The both observations can be linked to the fact that the unsuccessful treatments of acne produce a sort of stigma in the patient’s conciousness, which they believe to be a sort of negative social mark.

In our modern society where visual appearance plays a very important role, acne becomes more than just a medical problem. It affects the communication channels of the individual, quite often from his/her own initiative. Especially when it comes to communicating with the opposite gender, acne may seem like a barrier. Patients believe that they aren’t pleasant to communicate with, even disgusting. This leads to a more introverted behaviour and problems in socializing. Which are very close to depression.

Obvious signs of depression are loss of mood, body weight fluctuation, change in appetite and sleep patterns, negative feelings and emotions, thoughts of death and even suicide. The motoric functions are also affected with the person being easily agitated or otherwise very drowsy. In most cases adolescents and young adults start consuming alcohol and drugs to eliminate their psychological problems, but it only makes it worse.

In most severe cases, acne can lead to social phobia. The desire to minimize all social contacts, fearing that acne will be regarded disgusting and the person will not be desired in the socium, is quite often observed in patients with severe stages.

Thus, acne is far from a mere skin condition, it’s much more to that. It not only affects the appearance of a person, but also his/her overall quality of life, self-esteem, self-confidence and the overall point of view. So improvements in treating acne can reverse this process, that’s why many patients seeing the results of an effective treatment can be very enthusiastic. We can often see such fluctuations during Accutane treatment of acne, as well as other types of treatment. And both patients and doctors should be aware of these psychological aspects.

There are a lot of elements that may cause acne. You can be predisposed to acne by your genetics. You can have increased hormone levels. Especially, when it has to do with androgens, male hormones, which both men and women have in different amounts. Sebaceus glands in the skin, which produce sebum, are highly sensitive to hormones and their varying amount may cause acne.

In most cases acne is caused by the improper production of sebum. This may be caused by a variety of factors. Your skin may be prone to acne due to your genetic predisposition, especially if your parents have had history of acne too. Acne breakout may also be caused by stress and psychological factors. It is important that you understand what causes acne to be able identify and treat acne without any psychological side-effects.

There are many professional (which in most cases means expensive) acne treatments out there on the market. But if you can’t afford them — don’t worry, there are many simple products, which will help you eliminating acne if used correct. All you have to do is follow the guidelines and choose the most effective method? Which works best for you.

The most simple and common domestic treatment for acne — is anything that contains salicylic acid. Best of all is to use a salicylic acid facial cleanser. This acid will normalized the functioning of sebaceus glands and respectively the production of sebum.

Another way to prevent the development of acne is to avoid scrubbing. Many people make a mistake when assume that acne is dirt and scrubbing will help remove it. Fact is that scrubbing will only worsen your condition, because it will irritate the skin, which is already very sensitive and damaged.

Many tend to prick acne, but this also should be avoided. Pricking may result in a longer recovery period and like scrubbing will damage your sensitive skin. Instead try using mild soap when washing your face. You can consult with a pharmacist to select a skin cleanser or soap that will be most effective in your situation.

If you have an oily type of skin, benzoyl peroxide will help dry up the skin and reduce bacteria, which causes acne. In case you have a dry type of skin, you should avoid benzoyl peroxide, and use a non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic moisturizer. Non -comedogenic moisturizers are created especially for acne-rpone skin.

In case you aren’t successful at eliminating acne on your won, it’s better to consult with a professional dermatologist. A professional doctor may suggest different treatments according to your individual case, some of which are topical antibacterial or antibiotics, retinoic acids, oral antibiotics and Accutane. In rare cases patients are suggested with surgical procedures, especially when the condition is severe. Some birth control pills are also known to treat acne in women, because they normalize hormone levels.

Can you imagine anyone thinking spots are hot? Jeez. There you are in the morning, looking in the bathroom mirror in despair. That acne is just crowding out all your good features and leaving a red, spotty mess. You’re lining up to take the Accutane — signing up for the iPledge is a real pain but it will all be worth it when the acne’s gone.

And then you catch sight of the headline in a newspaper as you’re on your way to school — “Hot Spots in Indonesia”. Foreigners are really weird. Indonesia is just so way out there. Actually, you probably don’t know where Indonesia is, but, hey, it’s weird that anyone should talk about spots like that. So you stop and then smile. It’s not quite what you thought. You’ve just got acne on your mind.

It seems those Indonesians burn their forests and our great network of spy satellites can see the hot spots where the fires are burning most fiercely. No-one knows why we’re spying on Indonesia but it all fits because your deep-seated spots burn fiercely and nothing else has been able to make them go away. That’s why you’ve signed the iPledge and your parents are going to buy Accutane online. With a little luck, it will all be gone in six months time.

Once upon a time, long long ago, there were five young ladies who were called the Spice Girls. One of them, born Victoria, was given the kind nick of Posh (a word meaning classy and elegant which she was until she opened her mouth and spoke). Now, her claim to fame is that she’s married to a footballer who can’t kick the ball in a straight line.

Anyway, Posh is prone to get acne — not quite what you would expect of someone so, well, Posh. But she’s finally found the cure. While the rest of the world fights acne with Accutane, the footballer’s wife is mainlining natto. This is a favorite of the Japanese who make the stuff by fermenting soy beans. Guess what? It’s full of essential vitamins that fix scarred skin.

Now, I gotta tell you. Natto has a taste that’s best not described and it’s best approached from up wind because it’s not overflowing with natural perfume. Back in the good old days when people really were posh, they used to go to spa towns to take the waters. That also tasted vile and smelled worse, but the classiest could make it look like they were sipping champagne. We’re all waiting for pictures of Posh downing her beans.

For those of you not into has-beens, there’s still Accutane for acne. No smell and swallowed whole so no taste problem but, hey, you can’t have everything unless you’re either rich or Japanese (or both).

What are we teaching our kids these days? Plastic surgery has welcomed the insecurities of teenagers with open arms and plenty of anesthetic. And where are the parents in all this? Well, they’re the ones paying the medical bills — more than 250,000 operation for patients under 18 years in 2007.

Well, I’ve got news for parents. There’s nothing even remotely glamorous about visiting with the real life version of Nip/Tuck. You get wheeled into surgery, the kind doctors knock you out and set to work with scalpels. They’re ready with the pain killers when you wake up.

Why go through all this pain and suffering? Well, so many of the kids get bullied in school. Other children (and some of the teachers) have Cruelty as their middles names. So it usually starts with acne. Your local health provider comes up with the news you want to hear. You can’t rub it off (that’s called dermabrasion when a trained professional does it). So it’s on with the Accutane. If it’s not pimples, it’s the nose or the breasts or. . . well, the list of body parts just goes on.

Now cosmetic surgeons are queuing up with just the treatment for you when the medication doesn’t cut it. And because everyone wants everything done yesterday — this is the age of instant gratification — you get it done. Except that you’ve still got to wait for the Accutane to work before they can work on your face or else the risk of scaring is great. That just leaves all those other body parts to work on while you’re waiting for those pesky spots to clear up.

Back in the 1950s, Richard Boone starred as Paladin in one of the best TV Westerns ever made about a gun for hire. It was called, Have Gun — Will Travel. Today, our kids turn to other remedies to get rid of the thing they hate the most: acne — the bane of the teenager’s life. How can anyone bear to be seen in public with their faces all messed up with zits and pimples?

So, they are all in the market to buy Accutane, the surest way to kill acne stone dead. Except it takes months rather than days to work and it doesn’t come in a cool black outfit like Paladin used to wear. But you can’t have everything. But who cares so long as it works.

So how much would teenagers pay to be free of acne forever? According to a survey published in this month’s Archives of Dermatology (a real cool publication is ever there was one), the national average is $275. Obviously, the kids they asked in High School gave higher amounts if their acne was bad. Curiously, their parents averaged around $250 — just to get a little peace around the house.

Well, the good news is that $275 buys you a truck load of Accutane — more than enough to see off that acne, so buy some online today!
